here's the thing...
Jun. 2nd, 2008 04:01 pmThere's a minor flashfire sizzling through the halls of a community on which I provide graphics. Seems that someone expressed a snippy, not too friendly opinion about the celeb in the spotlight.
Tempers flared. There was stomping away.
Aspersions were cast at the 'unresponsive' mod -- who didn't immediately appear out of thin air to pet everyone and spank the rude boy.
All this before she had a chance to even see the comm or make any changes (or not).
Look, not everyone on LJ has the computer on every single second of every blessed day. Some workplaces -- most workplaces -- don't allow it.
There are time differences, too -- the mod you might need at 7:00pm on a Monday night in London is still at her job in Los Angeles, unable to help you. And vice versa.
When there's not work, there is life. Real, messy life. Kids. Pets. Commitments. Many things that demand a lot of time away from the damn screen.
As much as you adore your fave celeb, you also need to chill. Be patient. Give people the consideration you ask for. And tut-tutting about an unresponsive mod that you haven't given time to respond reflects more on you than it does on the community or the person trying to run it for you. It's just bad form.
I'm not even going to address starting arguments in celeb squee communities -- if you don't know enough not to poke the bears, well, there's nothing any mod can do to help you.
These opinions are mine, unsolicited. Any backlash should land right here, at my door.
:D
