Slowly but surely I'm working through my drabble requests.

This one is for [livejournal.com profile] lyrstzha, who requested Angel/Wesley. It's set between Deep Down and Conviction. Hope you like!

I’ve lost count of the times I’ve given up on you
But you make such a beautiful wreck, you do

--- Shawn Mullins

Beautiful Wreck

The sulfuric stink of anger mingles with the undeniable scent of arousal, an unerring olfactory lead that draws Angel to the dark end of the bar. Leather stutters on leather, announcing his presence as he sits.

“Shouldn’t you be. . .prowling?”

Wes forms his words slowly, careful to annunciate in the way skilled drunkards do.

“You waste a lot of time on nothing, Wes”

Pale eyes glitter in the artificially dim light, flashes of ice and fire blaze through a film of fine scotch and less richly textured self-pity.

“I wasted my life on you, Angel. What does that make us?”

And for the lovely [livejournal.com profile] tkp who requested Cordelia, Angel and Baby!Connor, here it is!

Wish Fulfillment
“. . . denim trim brings out your blue eyes. You’re going to have your daddy’s taste in clothes with your mama’s color sense. . .”

It’s out of her mouth before she can breathe it back in. “My color sense,” Cordelia corrects breezily, as if it were a silly mistake. Cool hands sweep over her shoulders and rest heavily there, a gesture of comfort that brings nothing but a reminder of missed opportunity.

“Your mama . . .” Angel begins, as if he could make it so, but chokes back the rest as she turns to ice beneath his touch.

Both of those are beautifully painful. I especially love Bitter Wes.

My. my. Angel/Cordy was wonderful, but your Angel/Wesley broke me, baby.

Gorgeous.

Thank you, baby!

I love Angel/Wes all sublimated and hot and unexpressed, and Wes' petty streak clicks with ol' Mr. Broodypants.

With a nice side dish of self pity, he's just like the song -- a beautiful wreck. Glad you liked!

I wasted my life on you, Angel.

Oh, ouch. Love this line to pieces, because I can see Wesley thinking it, and feeling it.

and this:

Cool hands sweep over her shoulders and rest heavily there, a gesture of comfort that brings nothing but a reminder of missed opportunity.

I just love that image, Angel with his hands on her shoulder, Cordy holding Connor, a family unit, but not. Love the way you caught that, everything they are, everything they're not.

Thanks.

Give Wes either too much or not enough scotch, and look out.

So glad you liked your C/A! Can't help wondering how utterly brokenhearted Cordy would've been, as much as she loved Angel.

Your Angel/Cordy broke me. I didn't get A/C until You're Welcome, then I felt such a sense of loss at having "missed it". Of course, that's when I started - really started - to read and enjoy the A/C.

Liked the first drabble too, but I'm not as much into Angel/Wesley...

There's something for everyone at Casa Akasha ... well, almost :)

Glad you enjoyed these! And A/C really does grow on you, backwards. Go figure.

Broken Wes breaks me, and he got so broke, didn't he?

The C/A was sublime. As usual.

Oh, ouch! The sense of lost chances underlying both of these is quite poignant. There's such lovely, lovely pain in both---though I think mine is the shiniest. Embittered!Wes is just so wonderfully heartbreaking. Thanks so much for this!
